What Is Particleboard (Chipboard)?

The word “particleboard”, which has been introduced to the market by a Turkish company by combining the words “artificial and wood, is now integrated into the product by passing the chipboard, which is the true definition of the product.
How Is Particleboard Produced?
The first stage in particleboard construction is to break the specially supplied trees into small pieces in special crusher machines in order to provide the desired properties, and to store the broken trees in two separate classes according to the sawdust sizes. Top and bottom layer sawdusts are dried together to the desired humidity value. Then, 2 different class of sawdusts are mixed with chemicals, special adhesives and hardeners to keep them cling together. A separate special adhesive and additional chemicals are used for each class. The mixture of 2 different classes with chemical added is dried to the desired humidity with hot air. Different humidity values are provided for each class. Firstly, the mixture of the very thin sawdust pieces is laid at the bottom. Then, the mixture with larger pieces of sawdust is laid on it. Finally; The mixture of very small sawdust pieces on the bottom is laid to the top, depending on the property of the desired product. After the first pressing process, which gives rough lines of the plate, it is subjected to the the second pressing process under the appropriate temperature and pressure with the appropriate time to ensure that the fibers adhere well to each other. In the last stage, the plates coming out of the press are allowed to cool down to form a complete structure. After the specified cooling time has been completed, it is made ready for use by being subjected to sanding process to have the desired thickness and smooth surface.
Where Is The Particleboard Used?
The particleboard can be delivered to the end user whether raw or subjected to various surface applications thanks to its durability and physical properties.
Although they have different thicknesses and densities according to their usage areas, they are generally produced with a thickness of 6 mm to 40 mm and a density of 500-700kg / m3. It can be produced with dimensions and width between 1830 mm and 2200 mm and height between 2440 mm and 4200 mm depending on the usage area. Particleboard is suitable for use in almost every area and its usage area is quite wide. It is a highly preferred product in kitchen cabinet body and doors, bathroom cabinets, living rooms, bedrooms and all other living areas.
