New construction technologies continue to be developed to increase the durability, protection and insulation of houses nowadays. Sandwich panels are one of the first to stand out among these technologies. This product, which is frequently preferred for its easy use and accessibility, is a modern, light and durable building material, a composite material used for covering roofs and facades of buildings and for insulation.

Sandwich panels are generally three layers, the outer layers are covered with materials such as steel, aluminum, plywood, gypsum board, and the intermediate layer is a building element consisting of filling materials that provide thermal insulation. It is necessary to choose different insulation materials according to the needs of the buildings. When designing a building, considering factors such as thermal insulation, hygiene, perspiration and air impermeability, sandwich panels are one of the most suitable options for these needs.

Sandwich Panel Application Areas
These panels, which provide both troubleshooting and aesthetic competence; It can be used in factories, social structures, cold storages, sports facilities, swimming pools, stadiums, residences, shopping centers, agriculture and livestock structures.

Qualities of Sandwich Panel

  • Additional adhesives for interior filling materials are less preferred. While polystyrene foam and rockwool are bonded with additional adhesives, polyurethane and fendik foams are self-adhesive to metal surfaces.
  • The inner filling materials to be used should not be affected by water. However, the air spaces between the fibers in rockwool can swell in contact with water.
  • The thermal insulation capacity of plastic foams decreases over time. Therefore, the insulation value should be considered in aged materials. In this regard, the longest-term PUR/PIR foams give the best results.
  • High densities can make assembly difficult. Density, especially in plastic foams, means an additional load on the carrier construction. In this respect, rockwool is a high-density filling material.
  • When looking at the variables required for fire resistant applications and sound insulation, rock wool gives the most successful result.
  • It can be produced in lengths up to 18 m. This provides an advantage as the assembly labor and the number of junction points will be reduced.
  • With the use of variable colors, it meets the expectations in terms of aesthetics and design on the facades.
  • Its lightness provides both speed and convenience for transportation and assembly and provides a great advantage in basic construction costs. Due to their durability, maintenance costs are also low.
  • Architecturally, sandwich panels can be designed in different sizes and forms with many materials, wide pattern and color applications. However, these may require additional costs for shipping and installation, and the panels must also accommodate other features such as windows and doors. A satisfactory and efficient building can be designed with aesthetically successful planning.
